    In 2004, the Royal Canadian Mint issued the 25-cent Poppy coin, the worlds first coloured circulation coin. The red poppy stamped with pressurized ink had an innovative fluorescent security coating and quickly became a collector's item.  At the Mint Directors' Conference (MDC) in Paris, France, the 2004 coloured poppy coin was named the Most Innovative Circulation Coin.  In 2010, as Canada prepared for nation-wide Remembrance Day ceremonies on the 65th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the Royal Canadian Mint, in association with the Royal Canadian Legion, issued its latest (3rd) coloured circulation coin, featuring a duo of iconic red poppies; Canada's flower of remembrance.
